About Yurts in Cyprus
Pawel Sikorski, the creator and owner of the holiday venue, relocated in Cyprus in 2009. Before he earned a great experience in hospitality and event management at the Hilton and other hotels in Greece and London. These career tips gave him a great understanding, what guests are really needed and how to treat them like friends.
Couple of years ago Pawel managed to settle in Cyprus the unique project — yurts, which were specially made in Mongolia from natural materials – camel hide, wood and horsehair. The structure comprises four different layers: a layer of felt insulation, a cotton liner, canvas on the walls so it can breathe, and a waterproof liner on the roof.
All the venue and its environment are as eco-friendly as possible: they use solar batteries, recycling bins, composting toilets and sustainable landscaping.
Venue infrastructure includes Straw House, which contains main kitchen, where the meals are served, and the «honestly mini bar», which is self service and based on… honesty. So you can help yourself with the drinks, keep a tab, add up before you leave and pay the total amount. Breakfast is already included in your stay and you can also order home cooked dinner for additional price.
Water for the Straw House comes from a borehole located just a few hundred meters away, there is unlimited drinking water which they dispense into glass bottles to help with recycling. Most of the products are bought locally, especially fruits and vegetables, which are delivered from nearby farm.
In Straw House one can find a refrigerator, a bookcase and cozy couches. They also have an event area that can be used for music concerts, festivals and workshops.
During your relaxing visit you can ride the horses, go hiking or bird watching or practice golf, can try wines at local wineries or take cooking lessons.
Each Yurt is 5-6 meters in diameter, around 20-27 sqm of floor space and 2.3-2.5 meters of head room. Wi-Fi coverage & Bluetooth speaker are available in each Yurt. Each Yurt also has bath shower and toilet.
There is luxury king-size iron bed, 2 single futons to accomodate kids or extra guests and rosewood furniture. The wooden floor strewn with beautiful sheepskin rugs all add to the natural feel and the wood burner will keep you warm in the colder months.
A fabulous flying deck in front of the Yurt boasts a panoramic view of the hills and the famous sunset. It is an awesome place to sit with a drink and feel the peace and stillness as the sun sinks slowly into the evening.
Fully equipped private bathroom with a power shower is just a few steps away. They provide electric fans in case the breeze is not enough to cool you.
Engke is the most secluded and far away from the house and other yurts.
There is a composting toilet right by the yurt and a private shower by The Straw House.
The stone slab patio faces into the gorge and there is a small waterfall that cascades in the winter.
The yurt is furnished with a king size bed and there are 2 single futons to accommodate kids or extra guests.
The wood burner will keep you warm in the winter and solid wood furniture, wooden floor and rugs add to the coziness.
This Yurt took its name from the Mongolian word for cliff, after the vertical drop to a small gorge that is just below it! After the rainfall a small stream starts flowing in the gorge and the small cascades sound very relaxing!
The Yurt is furnished with a king size bed.
The wood burner will keep you warm in the colder months and there is a decking area outside the Yurt, overlooking the gorge (right below you!) and the surrounding hills.
Private composting toilet is right by the Yurt.

Simou village is located about 3 km to the south from Yurts. In village you can find taverns, cafes and a Halloumi factory. Three kilometers to the north, is Filousa village, which is ideal place to spend a morning with a coffee and book within calm atmosphere.
Simou village existed during the ruling of the Franks with the same exact name. According to De Mas Latri, during the Ruling of the Franks the village was a private feud of the family Zappe. An inheritor of this land, Helene Zappe gave this as a wedding gift to Charles de Lusignan when she married him. Charles being a member of the royal family of the Louzinianas, was an owner of other important villages such as Lapithos and Kiti.
There are some places of interest right in the village, which you can visit. First of them is the church of Agia Marina. Three minutes after the church of Agia Marina, you will find a sign that points to the river Skarfos that supplies the barrage of Evretou. Down the river, you will find the famous Venetian bridge of Skarfou, which is one of the most ancient monuments of Cyprus and many tourists visit it daily.
So, we should say that Yurts in Cyprus is a fantastic destination for any person, who would like to spend time in unbelievable and calm atmosphere. A little Asian serenity in the heart of Mediterranean! Just come once and you will return again and again!
